Matt Oldford
Matt Oldford is the founder and development lead behind East Oldford & Co, a property development and construction project management company based in Nova Scotia. With experience spanning construction, finance, and real estate investment, Matt brings a unique perspective to residential development projects. His work focuses on coordinating development projects, guiding construction teams, and working closely with investors and partners to deliver well-managed residential developments.
Background in Construction
Matt Oldford began his career in the construction industry in his early twenties after attending Nova Scotia Community College. Starting with a local builder, he gained hands-on experience in both residential and commercial construction, learning the practical systems and methods used on job sites.
He later worked with a coastal roofing quoting company where he spent several years estimating and managing projects ranging from $20,000 to over $250,000. During this time he advanced into a management role and developed strong skills in project coordination, budgeting, and client relations.
Financial and Investment Experience
In addition to his construction background, Matt Oldford also developed expertise in financial planning and investment management. After returning to Nova Scotia Community College, he completed several financial certifications including the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Life License Qualification Program (LLQP).
He later worked as a financial planner with Scotiabank and as a mobile mortgage specialist, where he advised clients on financial planning, investment strategies, and home financing. This experience provided valuable insight into property investment, development financing, and long-term asset management.
Entrepreneurial Work
In 2018, Matt founded Matty Renos, a construction company focused on residential renovations and property improvements. Through this business he gained extensive experience managing construction teams, coordinating renovation projects, and working with property investors. Several early projects included property conversions and rental investment properties, including successful Airbnb conversions and a duplex development in downtown Dartmouth. These projects helped build a strong local reputation and provided the foundation for expanding into larger development and construction management opportunities.

Today, Matt leads East Oldford & Co with a focus on residential development and construction project management. The company works with investors, property owners, and development partners to coordinate projects typically ranging from 6 to 30 residential units. Matt’s approach emphasizes practical planning, strong communication, and responsible development practices that help ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
